biography

Daniel Diges was born in 1981 as Daniel Diges García in Alcalá de Henares, near Madrid , where he grew up and joined the Teatro Escuela Libre de Alcalá de Henares (TELA). He was discovered as a model for the advertising industry and drew attention to himself in the 1990s through roles in Spanish television series, including the part of Gato in several hundred episodes of the youth series Nada es para siempre by Antena 3 (1999-2000). This was followed by recurring roles in the series Max clan (2003-2004) and Aquí no hay quien viva (2005).

From 2006 Diges turned to the theater as a musical performer and appeared in Hoy no me puedo levantar , a production about the Spanish pop band Mecano . In 2007 this was followed by an engagement for the Spanish version of the Queen musical We Will Rock You , in 2008 the lead role of Troy Bolton for months alongside Macarena García de la Camacha (Gabriella Montez) in the Spanish musical version of the film High School Musical . From 2009 Diges hatched for the musical Mamma Mia! in the role of Sky and was awarded the National Theater Prize of Spain for his performance as a musical performer that same year. In 2010 Diges was a participant in the Spanish preliminary round for the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC). Although he had initially turned down an appearance at the Song Contest, he immediately changed his mind when he heard the later competition entry , the modern Spanish-language waltz Algo pequeñito ( German : "Something tiny") for the first time. This song made it into the ten most popular titles in an online voting. He then appeared in the television show Destino Oslo organized by TVE1 at the end of February , received the most votes from the audience and the jury and prevailed against his nine competitors, including former ESC participant Anabel Conde .

With the song written and composed by himself, Jesús Cañadilla, Luis Miguel de la Varga and Alberto Jodar, Diges was automatically set for the ESC final on May 29, 2010. Diges described the title as "a perfect song to turn it into a mini-musical because it tells a story" . Starting in second place in the final, the Spaniard Jaume Marquet i Cot Diges, known as “ Jimmy Jump ” , disturbed the performance, who joined the four-piece ballet and danced. Diges was then given the opportunity to appear again at the end of the starting field and ultimately reached 15th place.

In mid-May 2010 he released the album Daniel Diges with Warner Music , which, in addition to cover titles by Billy Joel and Robbie Williams, also contained five self-written songs. The album stayed in the Spanish charts for ten weeks, where it reached number six.

After participating in the Eurovision Song Contest, a leading role followed in mid-November 2010 in the Spanish-language production of Claude-Michel Schönberg's musical Les Misérables . It was a new revision under the title Los Miserables at the Madrid Teatro Lope de Vega.

Daniel Diges has one son. He plays the piano and one of his hobbies is reading.
