Amaia Romero Arbizu (born January 3, 1999 in Pamplona , Navarra ), stage name Amaia , is a Spanish singer . Together with Alfred , she represented Spain with the song Tu canción at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon .

Life

She grew up in a family of musicians and was able to read notes and sing well as a small child. She is in her final year of music studies majoring in piano.

Career

In 2010 and 2012 she took part in talent shows for children on Spanish television, but did not reach the final.

In 2017 she took part in the audition for the ninth season of the talent show Operación Triunfo and on October 23, 2017 she entered the "Academy class". On January 29, 2018 she prevailed together with Alfred in the gala OT a Eurovisión  , and later represented Spain at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 with the song Tu canción . On February 5, she won the talent show Operación Triunfo with 46% of the votes of the Spanish audience.
