Operación Triunfo 2017: Gala OT a Eurovisión is the Eurovision Gala of the Spanish broadcast Operación Triunfo . The winner of this special gala will represent Spain at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon (Portugal).

format

concept

Since the ninth season of the Spanish program Operación Triunfo is currently being broadcast and has achieved high ratings and is also very popular in social networks, RTVE announced on December 5, 2017 that Spain would be hosting its representative for the Eurovision Song Contest via a special gala will determine the shipment. Five individual artists, three duets and one group compete against each other. However, these all consist of the last five participants of the current season of the show. Only with the duets will the loser of Gala 12 sing along to a duet. In round 1, all nine songs compete against each other, while three of them are chosen by 100% televoting in round 2, where the winner is determined exclusively by televoting. This will then represent Spain at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon.

Choice of contribution

RTVE and the company Gestmusic , who produce the show, announced on January 17, 2018 that they had received over 200 songs. When submitting their song, each composer was asked who should sing his song. Some composers also submitted a proposal as a duet or group, which leaves the possibility that Spain will also be presented by more than one singer in Lisbon. However, when submitting contributions, there was the requirement that the songs must consist of 100% Spanish texts. The songs of the five finalists will be presented on January 23, 2018. It was announced that a total of nine songs in the preliminary round will compete against each other in different constellations.

On January 15, 2018, the first four finalists in the program Gala 11 were determined. The fifth and final finalist was determined on January 22nd, 2018 in Gala 12 . A total of five solo songs, three duet songs and one group song, all of which were released in full on January 24th, 2018. The following participants compete against each other:
