Aitana Ocaña Morales , called Aitana (born June 27, 1999 in Sant Climent de Llobregat ) is a Spanish singer .

life and career

Aitana was the only child of Cosme Ocaña and Belén Morales, grew up in the municipality of Sant Climent de Llobregat , a suburb of Barcelona , and began singing at an early age. In 2014 she started to cover songs on YouTube and wrote her first own songs in the same year.

In 2017 she finished school with the Batxillerat . She originally intended to study design but auditioned for the casting of Operación Triunfo and was later selected as one of the 16 candidates for the show's ninth season. By participating in the show, Aitana became known in Spain and took second place after Amaia Romero . After the casting show, Aitana signed a record deal with Universal Music in Spain .

At Operación Triunfo , Aitana also appeared with Ana Guerra with her solo song Arde and her song Lo Malo to represent Spain at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 , but could not win the preliminary round. The song Lo Malo became a number one hit in the Spanish singles charts , where it went platinum three times. In the USA it was enough for a gold award.

In spring 2018 she recorded her first studio album in Los Angeles with producer Sebastian Krys . After the end of season 9 of Operación Triunfo , Aitana was part of the tour of the contest in summer 2018 and gave concerts all over the country together with the other show participants.

In 2018 her book La tinta de mis ojos was published, which she wrote with a coach and which includes poems .

Her first solo single Teléfono was released at the end of July 2018 . This was awarded a platinum record in the USA . Aitana also recorded a remix of her song Teléfono with Lele Pons . With her, she also hosted the 19th Latin Grammy .

Also in 2018 she created her own perfume that bears her name. In addition to her Spanish songs on the EP Tráiler , Aitana released the English songs Stupid and Popcorn . In 2018 their song Vas a quedarte was also released, written by the Colombian band Morat . She sang for the Coca-Cola Christmas commercial with Ana Guerra, Lola Indigo, Raoul and Agoney .

She also worked on the 2019 song Presiento by the band Morat. In May 2019 she released the single Nada sale mal , which is also part of her album Spoiler . Shortly thereafter, the single Con la miel en los labios appeared , which is about nostalgia and romance. She also recorded the Spanish version of A Whole New World from the movie Aladdin with Zayn Malik .

In October 2019 she was awarded the “Chica Cosmo” prize at the Cosmo Awards.

Aitana is currently in a relationship with Spanish actor Miguel Bernardeau and lives in Madrid .
