Remedios Amaya
Remedios Amaya (actually: María Dolores Amaya Vega * 1. May 1962 in Seville ) is a Spanish Flamenco - singer .
She was a flamenco singer favored by Camarón de la Isla , with whom she collaborated on various events. She is one of the best contemporary singers of cante chico , light and happy singing, such as B. Bulerías , Tangos or Alegrías . But she also sings other styles ( Palos ), such as B. Soleá and Seguiriya . There are two distinct periods in her singing style in her artistic career. Her first recordings Luna nueva (1983) and Seda en mi piel (1984) were so-called flamenco rock . The then lack of international interest in flamenco then led to a catastrophic result when she participated as representative of Spain in the Eurovision Song Contest 1983 . Then Remedios Amaya retired from the stage. In 1997 she performed again with Vicente Amigo . That year she published Turu Turai , which sold 150,000 times.
