Vicente Amigo

Vicente Amigo (* 25. March 1967 in Guadalcanal Sevilla , Spain ) is a Spanish flamenco - guitarist and composer .

Vicente Amigo grew up in Cordoba , where he still lives today.

Amigo was considered a child prodigy. He started playing the guitar at the age of 4 and received lessons from Merengue de Córdoba and Munoz Exposito at the age of 8 . He received classical training in composition, playing technique and improvisation . Later he developed his own style, which combines classical flamenco and modern elements and he experimented with new tunings of the guitar and also played the sitar .

At the age of 16 began a ten-year collaboration with the guitarist and composer Manolo Sanlúcar .

He then worked for a while with the singer El Pele. He started composing and in 1991 signed a contract with the Sony label . In 1996 he was both soloist and producer of José Mercés Del Amanecer . He toured with José Mercé and made guest appearances at major European festivals.

Amigo won several prizes and made numerous recordings, some of which were awarded gold and platinum. In 2001 one of his recordings received a Latin Grammy . In 2003 he resumed his collaboration with El Pele, with whom he made recordings, some of them with his own compositions. In 2005 he went on a world tour with his own orchestra and choir, which was put together for this purpose.

Amigo has worked on numerous productions by other artists - including Pepe de Lucía , Sting , David Bisbal , Niña Pastori .

For his CD Tierra (2013) he experimented with combining different compositional styles, combining flamenco and Celtic folk. He was awarded a gold medal by the Spanish government.
