Guadalcanal is a Spanish municipality in Andalusia in the province of Seville , 110 kilometers north of the city of Seville .

The community has 2627 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019). It is the birthplace of the seafarer Pedro de Ortega , who named the Solomonic island of Guadalcanal after her in 1568 .

The name of the community comes from the Arabic name Wadi al-Qanal  /وادي القنال / Wādī l-Qanāl .
