Alcalá del Río is a Spanish city ​​in the province of Seville in the autonomous region of Andalusia . The place had 12,029 inhabitants in 2019.

history

In Iberian times the place was called Ilipa . Ilipa won in 206 BC. BC Scipio in the battle of Ilipa over the Carthaginians. In Visigoth times the place is mentioned as a diocese .

In 1594 Alcalá del Río belonged to the Kingdom of Seville (Crown of Castile) , at that time the place had 586 inhabitants.
