La Puebla de Cazalla is a Spanish municipality in the province of Seville in Andalusia .
Geographical location
The place is 60 kilometers east of Seville. The Río Corbones flows through the town and is dammed in the Embalse Puebla de Cazalla reservoir southeast of the town center .
Neighboring towns are Marchena in the north, Osuna in the east, Villanueva de San Juan in the southeast, Pruna in the south and Morón de la Frontera in the west .
The town is connected to the cities of Seville and Málaga via the A92 motorway .
History
The name Cazalla is related to the Spanish word Castillo , castle. To the south of the village there is actually a ruined castle, the Castillo de Luna . The place could not simply be called Cazalla, because of the similarity with the place Cazalla de la Sierra, which is also in the province of Seville .
The inhabitants of La Puebla de Cazalla are called Moriscos because the Dukes of Osuna refused to obey the will of the Catholic Kings and expel the Moriscos . For the same reason, the family name Moreno is very common in Ort.
