Ryan Paris (born March 12, 1953 in Rome ; real name Fabio Roscioli ) is an Italian singer and producer who had his greatest hit in 1983 with the song Dolce Vita in the style of Italo Disco .

Life

Paris is the son of a painter. He broke off his architecture studies in the late 1970s to go on a world tour. In 1981 he tried his hand at acting in Italy: He had a supporting role in the Sergio Leone film Once Upon a Time in America . However, his acting career was not crowned with particular success, after which he devoted himself to music.

His best-known hit was in 1983 with Dolce Vita . The song was composed by Pierluigi Giombini , who discovered and promoted Paris. Giombini also took care of the arrangement and production and played the piano. The text is by Paul Mazzolini (Gazebo). In addition to Ryan Paris, Fiona Chapelle can also be heard. Giampaolo Bresciani was responsible for the sound engineering. The title is based on the film of the same name, The Sweet Life (original title: La Dolce Vita ) by Federico Fellini . With this song, Paris was one of the founders of the Italo disco wave. Characterized by the synthesizer sound , Dolce Vita is a typical representative of the New Wave genre.

The song rose to number 5 on the charts in Great Britain , number 3 in Germany and Switzerland, and was also high in the Netherlands and even in Japan . However, it was Roscioli's only sweeping success so far. The single won a silver record in Great Britain, a gold record in France and Spain and even a platinum record in Denmark .

In 1989 Paris decided to re-release Dolce Vita with the help of Amsterdam DJ Ben Liebrand , which brought him back to the top 20 in the Netherlands. Later, Paris was increasingly active as a producer, for example for Coca-Cola . In 1994 his Mr. Jones title received platinum status in Portugal and Spain . In 2003 he won a German DJ Award in the “Best Oldie Act” category. In 2007 Paris performed for the radio station RFM together with other well-known artists of the 1980s at "RFM Party 80" on a tour across France.

In 2010 Ryan Paris tried to make a comeback with the song I wanna love you once again . Composition and text are by Ryan Paris himself, it was produced by Eddy Mi Ami. In 2013 he published Sensation of love with Valerie Flor. In 2017 Ryan Paris sang again Dolce Vita , produced by Jordi Cubino (David Lyme), for the benefit album "La Marato 2017" in Spain. The album sold over 250,000 copies and was number 1 on the albums and iTunes charts in December 2017.
