Laura van den Elzen (born September 16, 1997 in Gemert ) is a Dutch country rock musician and songwriter .

biography

Laura van den Elzen grew up with her three years younger sister with her parents Pedro and Mariska van den Elzen.

She first became known at the age of twelve as a participant in the My Name Is… competition on Dutch and Belgian television. This is where she came to country music . In 2015 she performed at various country festivals across Europe. In 2016 she reached the finals of the 13th season of the talent show Deutschland sucht den Superstar and came second. After the show, performances in her home country followed, and European festival organizers became aware of Laura.

In 2015 van den Elzen won a DCMA Award in the “most promising act” category.

In addition to musical activities, van den Elzen studies communication, marketing and event management. She has published several cover versions of songs by well-known artists such as Cyndi Lauper , Miley Cyrus or Chi Coltrane and Dolly Parton , in the meantime also own songs and two albums.

Since the end of 2016, she has formed a duo with Mark Hoffmann, who was sixth from the 13th DSDS season. With him she won the Austrian Country Award in the category “The Best Song of the Year” in 2017 with her country ballad “How Could I”. In the meantime they play as headliners at many country festivals in Europe. In 2016/2017, the two sang their official opening song for the Four Hills Tournament several times for over 25,000 people.

In 2018 the duo created a new genre called "Country Pop-Schlager", a mixture of Country, German Pop and Schlager. With the agency MCS Berlin and their first “Country Pop-Schlager” single “Flug zu den Sternen”, the two received a good response from TV shows and downloads with the new genre. Within a few months they had over 100,000 streams on Spotify with the single. You appeared with the single in music shows such as "ZDF Fernsehgarten", "MDR Musik für Sie" and "rbb Sommergarten".
