history

2005-2008

The band was founded in early summer 2005 as a fun project to take part in a school competition. After an unexpected victory, the band members decided to make some changes in the line-up, so that in September 2005 the band was made up of Kilian Peters, Adrian Tschoepke, Arseny Knaifel and Vincent Petsch.

Initially, the band's genre was based much more on pop-punk . The band themselves described their style as power pop . In October 2005 they recorded their first EP under the title The Awesome Foursome , followed shortly afterwards by the EP Sex, Drugs and Powerpop (May 2006). Due to the band's dissatisfaction with their own music and the rapid change in musical style, the two demo EPs were never released on CD.

In September 2006 the band recorded their third EP with producer Greg Dinunzi and Neil "Harry" Harrison under the title Don't Say Anything .

In May 2007 the band teamed up with 5BUGS guitarist and producer Florian Nowak and recorded a fourth EP with four songs, which they named Who Needs Winners Anyway . The EP was released on September 15, 2007. On December 14th, Not Called Jinx won the qualification for the VIVA School Jam 07/08 competition in Berlin.

In 2008 Not Called Jinx played at the Open Flair Festival with The Hives and Die Ärzte as headliners. Not Called Jinx took third place in the T-Mobile regional local support band competition. The jury consisted of VJ Joachim Winterscheidt ( MTV ), Henning Wehland ( H-Blockx ), DJ Sepalot ( flowerpot ), Marc Liebscher (manager Sportfreunde Stiller ) and Götz Gottschalk (manager and producer). From October 17th to November 1st, 2008 the band toured all over Germany together with the German-speaking rock band Harthof from Berlin.

2009–2012

In 2009 Arseny Knaifel left the band. Thomas Kosslick and Irzan Raditya became new members of the group shortly afterwards. On September 21, 2009 the band played with All Time Low and The Audition from the United States in Berlin. Not Called Jinx toured for a few days with Itchy Poopzkid in February 2009 and shortly after went on tour with 5BUGS from Berlin for two weeks. Immediately after the tour with 5BUGS, the band recorded their debut album Phoenix Arising in the Daily Hero Studio in Berlin, Kreuzberg, again with producer Florian Nowak. The record was released on April 29, 2011.

In October 2010, Not Called Jinx played at Java Rockin Land 2010 in Jakarta, Indonesia, the largest rock festival in Southeast Asia. This was the band's first international tour. In addition to The Smashing Pumpkins , Stereophonics , Dashboard Confessional and many other international rock bands, they were also headliners of the previous event in Surabaya. Especially for Indonesia they released another EP called New Beginnings . During their two-week stay in Indonesia, they not only played the Java Rockin Land Festival, but also visited a large number of radio and TV stations to give interviews and meet & greets.

In 2011 some of the songs by Phoenix Arising ran in rotation on many radio stations in Germany and the Berliner Zeitung wrote an article about the band. At the end of September the band went on a European tour with the Swedish rock group Royal Republic .

In 2012 Not Called Jinx played at numerous festivals in Germany and accompanied the 5BUGS on their farewell tour for several days. In November they played with the Indonesian pop rock band Rocket Rockers in Berlin on the PeterSaysDenim Invasion Tour, organized by their Indonesian clothing sponsor.

2013

At the beginning of 2013 a cooperation between the band and the booking agency KOKS Music was established . In March 2013 Not Called Jinx went on tour in Germany for several weeks with the pop-punk band Insert Coin from Recklinghausen. They then signed a record deal with the SPV label . In October the band went back to the Daily Hero Recordings Studio to record their second album, which was to be called The Manual . Meanwhile, Irzan Raditya and Not Called Jinx have gone their separate ways.

In 2014 it was decided that The Manual should be published on August 22, 2014. The band also released their third official music video called Palm of My Hand on May 4, 2014 , which already gives clear hints about the new album.
