Arno Schmidt (singer-songwriter)

Arno Schmidt (* 1955 in Rostock ) is a German musician and a representative of the East German songwriting scene.

Life

Arno Schmidt gained his first musical experience in the children's church choir and singing club Viktor Jara at the University of Rostock.

From 1968 to 1974 he completed a guitar training at the Rostock Conservatory for children and young people. Arno Schmidt studied on this instrument from 1976 until his state examination in 1980 at the "Hanns Eisler" University of Music in Berlin . At the same time he accompanied Barbara Kellerbauer on extensive concert tours throughout Europe and in 1979 on her LP Barbara Kellerbauer and group .

From 1981 to 2006 he worked as a freelance songwriter with the lyricist Ed Stuhler .

In 1983 he performed with Kurt Demmler , Gerhard Schöne and others at the song summer of the FDJ in the Parkaue Berlin in front of 5,000 listeners. Guest performances took Arno Schmidt to the Druschba-Trasse in 1985 and 1988 and to the Open Flair Festival in 1989 and 1994 .

Schmidt lives and works in Berlin.
