Ed Stuhler (born February 27, 1945 in Schönebeck (Elbe) ; † May 18, 2018 ) was a German publicist , text and book author .

Life

Stuhler grew up in Schönebeck in Saxony-Anhalt and attended high school there from 1951 to 1961. From 1961 to 1963 he did an apprenticeship at the Riesa tire factory and became a rubber specialist. From 1965 he studied at the engineering school for chemistry "Justus von Liebig" in the Magdeburg district of Westerhüsen . He graduated in 1968 as a chemical engineer.

Until 1976 he had various jobs at the Schönebeck tractor factory, including as head of public relations. At the same time, in 1973, Stuhler began an external degree in cultural and literary studies at the Humboldt University in Berlin . In 1976 he moved to Berlin and worked there as an editor in the house for cultural work . In 1978 he graduated as a cultural and literary scholar and has been a freelance writer since 1979. He had three children.

Ed Stuhler has been writing songs and cabaret texts since 1976, for Gisela May , Thomas Putensen , Arno Schmidt and Rainer Neumann , among others . In addition, he produced plays, TV documentaries and several books, mostly biographies and contributions to recent German contemporary history.

Stuhler died in May 2018 at the age of 73.
