St. Ingbert pan

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The St. Ingbert pan is a cabaret award that has been awarded annually by the Saarland city of St. Ingbert since 1985 . The project was conceptually developed by Elmar Peiffer, the head of the St. Ingbert cultural office at the time, and made a success. In addition to the German Cabaret Prize of the Unterhaus - Mainzer Forum-Theater and the Salzburg Bull , the pan has established itself as one of the three most important prizes in the German-speaking area.

Award

The St. Ingberter Pfanne is a promotion award for small artists, which is awarded as part of a competition during the week of small arts. The competition is aimed at actors and actresses from the fields of cabaret , songwriters , mime , movement and musical theater as well as new forms of cabaret.

Those interested in the competition can apply with their German-language program (video must be sent in). An expert jury nominates twelve (several years even 15) candidates (soloists and groups) from the submitted applications for the actual competition. On four competition evenings (in the meantime five competition evenings for a few years), three candidates each appear with a three-quarter-hour program. The jury of experts will select  two winners - regardless of the genre - who will each receive an equivalent prize - the St. Ingberter Pfanne  - with prize money of 4,000 euros each.

The jury can also decide to split the prizes among several competitors. In addition to the main prizes, the audience will choose their own winner; the “Audience Award of Sparda-Bank Südwest” is also endowed with 4,000 euros. In the meantime, another prize has been awarded, the “Sparda-Bank Südwest Extra Prize”; it was awarded for "innovative, not yet experienced achievements" [organizer]. This prize was no longer awarded from 2013. For the first time in 2015, the Saarland Minister for Education and Culture Ulrich Commerçon donated a special prize worth 4,000 euros, which is awarded by a youth and school jury. All other participants receive a recognition amount. The pan is endowed with prize money totaling 25,000 euros, making it the most highly endowed cabaret prize in the German-speaking area.

The Week of Cabaret is financed by the city of St. Ingbert and sponsors, including the main sponsor Sparda-Bank Südwest , who also donates the audience award and, since 2008, the extra award.
