Thiel performed his first program from 1997 together with Jean Claude Sassine under the title Einsames Literarisches Kabarett . Since then he has performed in several programs outside of the German-speaking area, for example in London, Milan , Rome , Bangkok , Hong Kong , Kaohsiung , Taipei and Taitung .

In 2003, Swiss television censored Thiel for criticizing Israel's Prime Minister Ariel Sharon . The broadcaster brought him back in 2005, and he hosted Comedy im Casino until the end of the same year .

Positions

Andreas Thiel sees himself as an anarchist orientated satirist. He also holds libertarian views. He describes social democrats as “ socialists ” who strive for power, calls himself a freedom-loving “anarchist” and is critical of state subsidies for the cultural sector. The artist emigrated to Iceland in 2009 because he no longer wanted to pay what he believed to be high taxes in Switzerland. He rejects taxes as "indecent".

Thiel is a critic of Islam . In his view, Islam is in need of reform because the Koran preaches hatred. On the occasion of a corresponding article by Thiel in Weltwoche , he was invited to the talk show Schawinski, broadcast on Swiss television SRF 1 , as a guest on December 15, 2014 . The broadcast received a lot of media coverage because the course of the conversation was perceived as irrelevant. According to the ombudsman of SRG Achille Casanova , the broadcast violated the principle of fairness. Most of the numerous complaints received complained about the conduct of the interview, which was perceived as polemical.
