The Theater am Hechtplatz is a small theater that has existed at Bellevue in Zurich since 1959 . It offers around 250 places and is operated by the City of Zurich. The stage program consists mainly of cabaret, comedies, chansons and children's theater. Since 1963 the theater has also housed the Zurich fairy tale stage .
Emergence
The theater on Hechtplatz was set up in the former fire station on Hechtplatz by the architect Ernst Gisel with the support of the then mayor Emil Landolt . It was intended to offer the Zurich cabaret scene (including Cabaret Fédéral ) a new stage after the room in the Hotel Hirschen was closed. The opening was celebrated on April 25, 1959 with the production of Eusi chliini Stadt (Our Little Town) by Werner Wollenberger , Otto Weissert and Hans Moeckel . Since 1963 it has been led by Felix Rogner , who was succeeded as directors by Rudolf Sauser, Nicolas Baerlocher and Dominik Flaschka .
