Hilde Kappes

Hilde Kappes (* 1964 in Bernkastel-Kues ) is a German improvisation musician ( singing , numerous musical instruments, but also drainpipe, composition ), who often sings and speaks "Schortuan" in a fantasy language.

Act

Kappes first received piano lessons from her father, an organist and choir director. After a year at the Cologne University of Music , she studied music and movement education in Vienna from 1983 to 1988 , but is largely self-taught as a performer . Her vocal acrobatics and performance on a wide range of instruments at the women's music festival As You Like It 1994 in Berlin received positive attention from the critics. She acted as a presenter in André Heller's variety show in Berlin's “ Wintergarten ” .

Appearances in theaters, at various music festivals, literary conferences and congresses in Germany, France, Switzerland and Austria followed. But Kappes also managed interdisciplinary projects (with visual arts, dance and film). She created theater and film music , but also radio plays for Südwestrundfunk ( Das Schortuanische Klavier 1997), Deutschlandfunk and Deutschlandradio as well as several albums and DVDs under her own name. She can also be heard on albums by Michael Rodach and Veras Kabinett .

Kappes received teaching assignments at the Berlin University of the Arts , but also at other universities in Germany and abroad.

Prizes and awards

In 2001, Kappes was awarded the Prix ​​Pantheon Frühhreif & Verdorben as the winner of the jury ; In 2002 she received the Handelsblatt Prize and the Morenhovener Lupe . Furthermore, she received the jury award of the Rhoner SurPrize in Bozen in 2003 .
