Mark Antony Hiberus

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Marcus Antonius Hiberus (possibly also Gaius Antonius Hiberus , since both prenomen are documented) was a Roman politician living in the 2nd century AD .

Through military diplomas , e.g. Some of them are dated April 8, 133, it is documented that Hiberus 133 was ordinary consul together with Publius Mummius Sisenna . Further diplomas, e.g. Some are dated January 19, 136 and February 28, 138 and an inscription proves that he was governor of the province of Moesia inferior from at least January 19, 136 to July 11, 138 .

In two inscriptions the first name of Hiberus is given with Marcus, in another inscription with Gaius; other inscriptions either give no first name or are incomplete. In a military diploma that is dated 117/138, a Gaius Antonius is listed as consul; Whether it is Hiberus or an otherwise unknown consul is uncertain.
