Publius Mummius Sisenna

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Publius Mummius Sisenna was a Roman politician and senator in the 2nd century AD

Sisenna probably came from the Baetica . Nothing is known about his early years and the beginning of his political activities at the consulate. However, he must have come from an influential family and had good relations with the imperial family, because he became a full consul in 133 , an office that less influential senators rarely attained. Normally, newcomers only became a consuls consul when they were the first in their family to become consulates. After dressing the consulate, Sisenna was appointed governor of the province of Britannia by Emperor Hadrian , an office he held from 134 to 136. Publius Mummius Sisenna Rutilianus , suffect consul in AD 146, was probably either his nephew or his son.
