Der Vollposten (original title: Quo vado?; Marketed in Austria as Der Vollposten - Avanti Beamti ) is an Italian comedy film from 2016 with the Italian comedian Checco Zalone , directed by Gennaro Nunziante . The Vollposten is the most successful Italian film of all time and tells in a humorous way about the life of an Italian provincial official. The nationwide cinema release was on September 22, 2016.

Checco Zalone has achieved everything in his life that he had dreamed of since his youth. Even as a young boy, it was his greatest dream - following the example of his father - to become a civil servant and enjoy the advantages of a secure job for life. He enjoys a permanent position as a civil servant for life in the State Office for Hunting and Fishing. Living with his parents is also part of his all-round carefree life, as he is looked after by his mother as an Italian "mammone" (nestling). Therefore, he has very little desire to get engaged to his girlfriend. But one day the Italian government passed an administrative reform that would involve cuts in the number of civil servants. Checco is appointed to the ministry, in which the merciless civil servant Sironi gives him the choice: voluntary dismissal or transfer. His full post is sacred to Checco and so he decides to be transferred. But Sironi really wants to get rid of him. In the hope that he will still agree to the severance payment, she assigns him the most unpopular positions in the entire world. But Checco cannot be reduced even with the offer of a one-off severance payment. Eventually, the officer resorted to tougher means and transferred Checco to a research station at the North Pole , where he was supposed to protect scientists from polar bear attacks. Just when he is ready to give in and give up his beloved permanent position, he meets Valeria. The pretty researcher is committed to endangered animal species . Checco falls head over heels in love and so begins a fantastic adventure in which he discovers a whole new world and broadens his own horizons. For Valeria, he is even willing to give up ingrained habits and curb his Italian temperament . Her three children from previous relationships with fathers from three different cultures do not deter him either. After a temporary return to Italy, where he worked as a civil servant in a small village with the dissolution of the private zoos of certain Mafiosi and runs an animal rescue center with Valeria and a temporary separation from Valeria, he finally found happiness in after the birth of a daughter with Valeria Africa and gives up his job with the Italian state. The civil servant Sironi has solved her toughest case with the resignation of Zalone from the civil service and is promoted to the cabinet member.

Originally produced with a total budget of 10 million euros, Der Vollposten was able to bring in 24 million in the first three match days. With over 10 million viewers, Der Vollposten is the financially most successful Italian film of all time and was even able to leave Avatar and Star Wars: The Force Awakens behind in its home country . In terms of viewership, it ranks 34th among all Italian films.

The Italian title Quo vado? literally means "Where am I going?" It can be used as an allusion to the Latin Bible phrase Quo vadis? be understood.
