Joachim Bublath

Joachim Bublath (born March 12, 1943 in Memel ) is a German physicist and television presenter .

Life

In 1956, Joachim Bublath came to Frankfurt am Main at the age of 13 . After graduating from Carl-Schurz-Schule , he studied chemistry , mathematics and physics . Bublath completed his studies with a diploma . For his doctorate , he moved to the Technical University of Munich and completed it in 1971 with a doctoral thesis in theoretical physics .

Even during his studies he came to television via the student express service. During the semester break he initially worked as a camera assistant at Hessischer Rundfunk and also produced a science program in the style of his later Knoff Hoff Show , the Physics Circus , which was broadcast on the third television program of Hessischer Rundfunk at the time. He later became a mathematical advisor for academic programs on school television , built a science department in the Hessischer Rundfunk and also produced films for third world countries. During this time he moderated the WDR telecast head to head .

In 1981, Bublath moved to ZDF , where he was head of the natural science and technology department . From 1986 to 1999 he conceived, wrote and moderated all 79 episodes of the bimonthly broadcast Die Knoff-Hoff-Show , which was continued from 2002 to December 2004 as The Big Knoff-Hoff Show in a different format. Since 1981 he has also been the author and presenter of the ZDF science magazine Ausforschung und Technik . In 1988 the program was modernized and continued under the name Adventure Research . The format was finally completely tailored to Bublath in 2003 and renamed Joachim Bublath . In 2007 he was named Science Journalist of the Year.

His last ZDF broadcast, Joachim Bublath, took place on March 5, 2008. In May 2008 the GWUP awarded him the Carl Sagan Prize for his journalistic work, as he had played a key role in shaping the scientific television landscape since 1981.

Bublath's son is the jazz musician Matthias Bublath .
