Sky du Mont (born May 20, 1947 in Buenos Aires , Argentina , actually Cayetano Neven du Mont ), formerly also Sky Dumont , is a German actor , voice actor and author .

Life

Sky du Mont comes from the DuMont publishing family . The family fled the Nazi regime to South America in the 1930s / 1940s . Du Mont, who owes the nickname "Sky" to his brother, who could not pronounce "Cay" (for Cayetano), was born in 1947 as the son of the German August Neven du Mont and the British Chiquita Neven du Mont (1921-2018) in Argentina born. In 1952 the family moved with him back to Europe. He spent his school days in London and graduated from high school in Switzerland.

After attending an acting school in Munich, he took on his first roles in theater and television in 1971. He then worked in numerous television and feature films, such as Otto - Der Film or Der Schuh des Manitu . He was involved in 59 episodes of the US hospital series General Hospital . In his international engagements he played alongside William Holden , Gregory Peck , Rod Steiger , Lee Marvin and Anthony Quinn as well as with Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman in Stanley Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut . He was also seen in many German TV series , Der Kommissar , Der Alte , Derrick , Wolffs Revier , Adelheid and their murderers , Forsthaus Falkenau , Police Inspection 1 , Zwei Münchner in Hamburg , Unser Charly , Siska , Der Hausgeist and poor millionaires .

The collaboration with director Michael Herbig gave du Mont the opportunity for a much commented role and image change. The taz wrote: “As a slimy beau, Sky du Mont socialized German TV generations. In Hollywood he was most recently able to arm himself up to Nicole Kidman under the direction of Stanley Kubrick. Now he is caricaturing his Playboy image in the successful Der Schuh des Manitu . ”In 2001 he was awarded the Bambi and the German Comedy Prize for his role in the comedy Der Schuh des Manitu . For his participation in Herbig's comedy (T) Raumschiff Surprise - Period 1 , he again received a Bambi and a German Comedy Award in 2004.

From May 2000 he moderated the VIP journal Sky Lights on SWR for two years . Since May 2016 du Mont has been moderating the mystery television series Haunted - Souls Without Peace on the private broadcaster TLC Germany . The series follows alleged paranormal activities in German-speaking countries.

In 2003 he published his first novel entitled Prince and Paparazzi .

Sky du Mont can be heard as a speaker in commercials and cinema trailers and has been speaking in the musical The Rocky Horror Show in several performances since 2011 .

Sky du Mont primarily embodies distinguished scientists, doctors, lords, etc., often with a semi-silk background.

Private life

In 1972 du Mont married the actress Helga Lehner . He separated from her when he met the French actress Diane Stolojan , whom he married in 1992. They had a son and divorced in 1995. From 1995 to 2000 du Mont was married to the actress Cosima von Borsody . In September 2000 he married Mirja Becker , his fourth marriage . With her du Mont appeared in 2005/2006 as part of the regular cast of the game show Typisch Frau - Typisch Mann . Both lived together in Hamburg. They have a daughter (* 2001) and a son (* 2006) together. In July 2016, Sky du Mont announced the separation from his wife a few months ago.

Du Mont was a member of the FDP and was involved in election campaigns. In the election campaign for the Hamburg state election in 2008 , he played in an election commercial for the party. He resigned from the party in early 2018 because it went into opposition and he was personally insulted because of his political activities.

In 2007 du Mont was voted “Connoisseur of the Year” by the Schlemmer Atlas . He is committed to the animal rights organization PETA , the Felix Burda Foundation , Make-A-Wish Germany and has repeatedly supported World Vision Germany and McDonald's Children's Aid in the past .
