Half silk

Half silk is the name of a fabric that consists of silk yarn in one thread direction and less noble yarns in the other, mostly cotton or linen . The fabric is usually made in a satin or satin weave with a weft thread made of silk and a warp thread made of cotton. Due to the one-sided binding , the visible side of the fabric appears with the shine of silk.

Tissue types

The adjective half silken colloquially referred to pejoratively a man of ill repute, the untrustworthy, disreputable and shady appears. It used to be a derogatory term for homosexuality. Other meanings: Dressed in an intrusive, tasteless fashion, expensively presented.
