The poplin or poplin [ popəliːn (ə) ] / [ pɔpliːn ] (engl. Poplin ) is a very finely ribbed, solid woven fabrics of fine yarn for outer wear.

Historically, it was a crepe fabric made of silk and wool. Since the 20th century, however, the term poplin has been used for a dense fabric made of different yarns ( cotton , linen , wool or synthetic fiber yarns ) in a plain weave and today only refers to the structure of the fabric, regardless of the material.

In English-speaking countries, poplin is now used to be equated with broadcloth and plain weave .
