Kim Märkl
Kim Märkl (born July 22, 1961 in Cleveland , Ohio, USA) is an American writer, composer and clarinetist .

education
Kim Märkl was born in Cleveland, Ohio and began her musical training with Angelo Fortini, who, together with her father, a drummer, gave her the first musical inspiration. She received her Bachelor of Music in Clarinet from Indiana University Bloomington and her Master of Music from Northwestern University , Chicago, where she studied with Robert Marcellus. Further studies with Larry Combs had a great influence on her musical development. In 1985 she received a Fulbright scholarship to study at the Musikhochschule Freiburg, Germany, from which she graduated with a soloist diploma.
life and work
Today Kim Märkl is a sought-after chamber musician , soloist, orchestral musician and teacher. She performed at the Spoleto , Tanglewood and Aspen festivals and played in various orchestras in Germany and Switzerland. In 2002 she founded the Atlantic Crossing recording studio with her husband Key-Thomas Märkl , son of concert master Josef Märkl and violinist with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra , where she works as a producer, composer and author. She is particularly interested in combining stories with music, with her work being performed throughout Germany and published by several publishers in Germany, Switzerland and the USA. Her works have been performed and recorded by well-known actors and musicians, including a. Sky du Mont , Hélène Grimaud , Ingolf Turban , Dietlinde Turban , Christian Tramitz , Sunnyi Melles , Steven Isserlis , Alex Dorow and August Zirner .
