The Girl of Your Dreams is a Spanish feature film from 1998.
action
During the Spanish Civil War in 1938 a Spanish film team flies to Germany , where the first co-production between the coalition partners is to be made at UFA in Potsdam-Babelsberg . The stars of the ensemble are the classy Macarena Granada and the womanizer Julián Torralba. Macarena has an affair with the director of the film Blas Fontiveros, which is an open secret within the film team as Fontiveros is married. When the team arrives in Babelsberg, Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels is also present, who keeps an eye on Macarena as he drives past. Goebbels is also known to the Spaniards as a womanizer, and so the minister tries to get closer to him at a reception for the film team between Goebbels and Macarena. Macarena finds it hard to fight off the minister, and Fontiveros begins to get jealous, but knows that a relationship between Macarena and Goebbels can benefit the film project.
Various problems arise in the production of the film. In addition to the Spanish version of the film, a German version will also be created. The main actor in the German film is Heinrich von Wermelskirch. The handsome hero of the German film, however, is homosexual and falls in love with the Spanish leading actor Julián Torralba when he first meets him, who due to the language problems hardly manages to make him understand his opposite sexual preferences. For some crowd scenes, the filmmakers provide extras, but they are all blond and blue-eyed and do not fit into the Spanish scenery; However, since Goebbels continues to court Macarena, he decrees that concentration camp inmates come to Babelsberg as extras. Macarena falls in love with one of these forced extras and helps him attempt to escape. She hides it in her cloakroom on the film grounds. The Nazi thugs almost find him when Macarena is saved by an order from Goebbels to want to see her. She hides the Russian-Jewish acrobat in a suitcase and lets herself be driven to the meeting with Goebbels. She pretends to Goebbels to give herself to him. Goebbels is knocked down by the Russian prisoner. Now the entire film team is in danger. Fontiveros contacts Magda Goebbels and pretends that Goebbels wants to leave his wife because of Macarena. This could be prevented if he got plane tickets to Paris from Ms. Goebbels. His convincing argument is that even for Macarena he would forego his career by escaping. This makes Macarena appear as a dangerous rival even in Magda Goebbels' eyes. In fact, it is not Fontiveros who leaves the country, but the concentration camp refugee together with Macarena and her maid.
