Austrian Film Award 2012
The second presentation of the Austrian Film Prize , an award from the Academy of Austrian Films , took place on January 27, 2012 in Vienna .

The award ceremony took place in the Rosenhügel film studios in the Viennese district of Liesing and was broadcast live on Austrian radio .
The winners, including those of the previous year, received the trophy designed by Valie Export in the form of an ascending step-shaped spiral. In graphic form, this sculpture also serves as the logo of the film award.
As in 2011, the event was moderated by Rupert Henning . Introductory speeches were given by Barbara Albert , Karl Markovics and Josef Aichholzer . The awards were presented by Barbara Romaner and Andreas Lust , last year's award winners in the categories of best female actress and best male actor . Martin Gschlacht was responsible for the lighting design .
Submissions, criteria and nominations
Films that were shown in Austrian cinemas between October 1, 2010 and November 30, 2011 could be nominated, with participating filmmakers also being present and available for public discussions.
Three nominees were then determined in each of the 13 categories listed below. In order for a film to be nominated, at least two of these criteria had to be met
- the original version of the film is in German
- the director comes from Austria or lives in Austria
- the producer is Austrian or lives in Austria
The nominations were announced on December 19, 2011.
