Josef Aichholzer (* 1950 in Villach , Carinthia ) is an Austrian film producer .

Life

In 1978 Josef Aichholzer founded the film distributor Filmladen together with Ruth Beckermann and Franz Grafl . Aichholzer has worked in various functions in the film sector since 1979. In 1983 he directed his first film, Vienna retour, together with Ruth Beckermann . As a co-founder of the Vienna Votive Cinema, which has been operated by the film shop since 1986, he also worked as a cinema operator. Aichholzer also wrote some scripts. Since 1998 he has only worked as a film producer for the Josef Aichholzer Filmproduktion , which he founded . In 2009 Josef Aichholzer founded the Academy of Austrian Films together with other Austrian filmmakers . In 2020 he received the first honorary award for services at the academy as part of the Austrian Film Prize .
