Winner of the Austrian Film Prize 2018

The presentation of the Austrian Film Awards 2018 by the Academy of Austrian Films took place on January 31, 2018 in the auditorium of Grafenegg Castle in Lower Austria . The nominations were announced on December 6, 2017. Most of them, in a total of fourteen categories, were given to light by Barbara Albert , followed by The best of all worlds by Adrian Goiginger with nine nominations. Die Hölle - Inferno by Stefan Ruzowitzky received seven nominations , the documentary Untitled by Michael Glawogger and Monika Willi received five, Die Migrantigen by Arman T. Riahi received four, Die Blumen von Bayern by Chris Kraus received three and Wilde Maus received two nominations.

The evening of the nominees , moderated by Hilde Dalik and Mirjam Unger , took place on January 24, 2018 . The award ceremony was moderated by Dalik and Christoph Grissemann , directed by Ungers. This year's guest speech was given by the writer Doris Knecht . Lukas Miko read a "Call of Austrian filmmakers against hate speech and de-solidarization" signed by 248 filmmakers.

Films submitted

Films could be registered for the selection process from July 3 to September 1, 2017; the criteria for participation for feature films and documentaries were a theatrical release between October 2016 and November 2017 and evidence of significant Austrian cultural imprint. Short films qualified on the basis of awards and festival successes in the past year. From the submissions, the full members of the Academy of Austrian Films selected the nominations for films and individual performances in 16 award categories; the nominations were announced on December 6, 2017. A total of 39 Austrian feature films, of which 20 feature films, 19 documentaries and 18 short films were submitted.
