Karl-Martin Pold (born August 10, 1981 in Melk ) is an Austrian director , author , producer and journalist and is considered a crowdfunding or crowdsourcing pioneer in German-speaking countries.

Career

He grew up in Pöggstall , ( Waldviertel region ), Lower Austria and studied theater, film and media sciences at the University of Vienna , as well as corporate communication and journalism at the Joanneum University of Applied Sciences in Graz and at the University of Saint Petersburg . During his studies he worked in the USA, Russia, Spain, France and Germany. He completed his studies with a master's degree. He wrote two diploma theses on Bud Spencer . Based on the thesis "They called him Spencer" he founded the Budspencermovie project. In addition to his work as a filmmaker, Pold also worked as a writer for Ueberreuter Verlag . Under the pseudonym Viktor Vosko he wrote “The Fetish Experiment: Undercover in the Scene”. He is a member of the Austrian Film Director Association .

Act

With the documentary They called him Spencer , Pold created Austrian film history. Never before has there been a movie project that used the possibilities of interactive film production to this extent. The Budspencermovie platform he created enabled the fan community to actively participate in the process of making the Bud Spencer documentary film. Pold managed to generate 270,000 followers on Facebook via the platform, which is more than, for example, FM4 or Rapid Vienna . No other documentary film project in German-speaking countries achieved similar numbers.

From 2012 he led three successful crowdfunding campaigns and was also active as a guest author and lecturer at numerous universities and industry meetings (including HTW Chur , German game "Quo Vadis", International Short Film Festival Winterthur , Dokville ).

He also directed online marketing campaigns for movies like “What happiness is” or “ Hidden Reserves ” and produced advertising and image films for Interspar and GlobeAir, among others, and worked as a player finder and editor for ORF and Pro Sieben .
