Live and act
Lukas Miko graduated from high school in Vienna in 1989 and then became a member of the ensemble in George Tabori's Theater der Kreis. From 1990 to 1992 he completed the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna and from 1992 to 1993 the Conservatoire de Paris . After his return to Vienna, Michael Haneke hired him for the lead role in his film 71 Fragments of a Chronology of Chance , in which he plays the sports student Max, who runs amok on Christmas day for no apparent reason. For his performance he was nominated for the best young European actor at the film festival “Stars de Demain” (forerunner of “European Shooting Stars”) and was awarded a special mention by the jury. From 1994 to 1999 he was a member of the ensemble of the Residenztheater in Munich and then until 2002 at the Burgtheater in Vienna. He then played as a guest at Theater Basel , Theater Klagenfurt, and in independent productions such as E.g. in Paulus Manker's "Alma - a Show to the End", in which he plays the composer Gustav Mahler.
In the cinema he was seen in various roles such as the Auschwitz survivor Hermann Langbein in the German Oscar entry 2016 In the Labyrinth of Silence by Giulio Ricciarelli ; as a right-wing extremist lawyer in The Night of the 1000 Hours by Virgil Widrich ; as the strict father of the blind piano prodigy Maria Theresia Paradis in light by Barbara Albert ; and as a heroin-addicted stepfather in the award-winning film The Best of All Worlds by Adrian Goiginger . For his portrayal as a heroin addicted stepfather, he was awarded the Austrian Film Prize 2018 for Best Supporting Actor.
On TV he became known to a large audience as the scheming borderline villain in the mini-series Altes Geld by David Schalko. He later appeared in the SKY series Der Pass (2019) as the dubious sect leader Brunner and in the successful ARD series Charité (TV series) - The 2nd Season (2019) as the abysmal Nazi psychiatrist Max De Crinis. In the movie Angelo by Markus Schleinzer (2018) he played the Austrian Emperor Joseph II , who, through his zeal for reform, made enemies of both the nobility and the church and at the end of his life was forced to withdraw a large part of his reforms.
In 2005 Miko wrote his first screenplay, which he filmed himself in 2006 under the title The Frozen Sea . This 30-minute short film was u. a. Awarded the Golden Lola (Film Prize) for Best German Short Film 2007.
