Clemens Schönborn

Clemens Maria Schönborn (* 1967 in Duisburg ) is a German director, author and musician.

Life

Clemens Maria Schönborn initially worked as a lighting technician and assistant director. He was assistant director to Frank Castorf (film adaptation of the production Demons ) and Christoph Schlingensief ( The 120 Days of Bottrop ). In 2001, Schönborn completed his directing studies at the Konrad Wolf University of Film and Television in Potsdam-Babelsberg. During his studies he made several internationally acclaimed short films , of which Hund received the prize for the best short film at the “Festival Internacional de Cine de Gijón”.

His short film Land Unter , a co-production of the HFF Potsdam / Babelsberg with Schramm Film Gbr, received the main prize in Târgu Mureș , Romania, for best short film. Other awards: Best short film awarded at the Mannheim-Heidelberg International Film Festival, First Prize - Thirteen festival "All shorts", Aix en Provence, France; First Prize - II Festival Internacional de Cine, Buenos Aires, Argentina. His short film Silicone with Sophie Rois in the leading role had its world premiere at the Hof Film Festival .

Schönborn made his feature film debut in 2004 with Fräulein Phyllis . In addition to directing, he was also responsible for the script. Miss Phyllis was released in Austrian cinemas in the winter of 2004. It was broadcast on television on ORF, Arte and 3 Sat.

His feature film The Last Turns Out the Light! had its premiere in the competition of the Max-Ophüls-Festival. The film was nominated for the 2008 Adolf Grimme Prize . Schönborn received the Mercedes-Benz grant for his directorial work.

For the crime scene Rendezvous mit dem Tod , which was first broadcast on February 20, 2011, he wrote the script together with the author Meike Hauck. Schönborn is represented as a theater and screenwriter by S. Fischer Verlag GmbH.

Since 2010 Schönborn has also been producing at the theater. His production Medea after Euripides with Sophie Rois in the leading role premiered in January 2010 at the Centraltheater Leipzig. His production The Lady of the Camellias after Alexandre Dumas, piece version Schönborn, music Verdi, premiered in early 2011 in the Volksbühne at Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz Berlin.

In the 2009/10 season, Clemens Schönborn played the role of Dr. Einstein in arsenic and a lace cap in the production of Sebastian Hartmann as an actor on stage.
