Monja Art
Monja Elisabeth Art (born January 8, 1984 in Wiener Neustadt ) is an Austrian film director and screenwriter .
Life
Monja Art grew up in Lanzenkirchen in Lower Austria. After graduating from the Semmering Higher Education Institute for Tourism , she studied philosophy and German philology at the University of Vienna from 2003 to 2008 , completing both diploma courses as a Magistra. This was followed by a doctorate of German philology, 2011 doctorate it to the Dr. phil . At the same time, she studied script and dramaturgy with Walter Wippersberg at the Film Academy of the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna from 2007 , completing her degree in 2011 as a bachelor's degree.
Her short film Red was shown at the Cannes Short Film Corner in 2009, among others . For her first feature film Seventeen , for which she was responsible for the direction and screenplay, she was awarded the Max Ophüls Film Festival in 2017 . Leading actress Elisabeth Wabitsch received the Max Ophüls Prize for best young actress.
