Awards

reception

The daily newspaper Der Standard described the film as a “stoically told study of the dissolution of boundaries. Rinner's view of it has a Buñuelish note, with a good sense of rhythm he compares the parallel worlds and ultimately drives them into escalation. "

The Diagonale jury justified the award for best feature film as follows: “The lover of Lukas Valenta Rinner is both a social parable and a black comedy. Based on close observation of social mechanisms in today's Argentina, the director tells of the collision of incompatible life models and the gradual self-liberation of his protagonist. The Lover is an idiosyncratic film in the best sense of the word, which impressed us with its mixture of formal rigor and humor and is not afraid to take the conflict described to surreal extremes.
