Adèle Haenel (born February 11, 1989 in Paris ) is a French actress.

biography

Adèle Haenel is the daughter of a teacher and an Austrian translator from Graz. She attended theater courses in Montreuil and at the age of 13 got the leading role in Little Devils .

She became known in 2007 for her role as Floriane in the film Water Lilies , the debut film by director Céline Sciamma , for which she was nominated for the César in 2008 as the best young actress . In 2009, she was selected for the role of Lucie in the drama Wife and Free! awarded the actor's prize at the Cinéma tous écrans de Genève festival .

She was named a French " Shooting Star " by the European Film Promotion in 2012 and received another César nomination for her portrayal of a young prostitute in Bertrand Bonello's historical film Haus der Sünde . In 2014 she won the César for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the film The Unshakable Love of Suzanne and the following year a César for Best Actress for Love at First Strike .

At the end of June 2020, Haenel became a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences .
