Pierre Schoeller (* 1961 in Paris ) is a French screenwriter and director.

Life

Schoeller studied film at the École Louis-Lumière in Paris from 1982 to 1984 and then went on to study screenwriting at La fémis . From 1995 he worked as a screenwriter mainly for television and short films, but also wrote the book for the movie Vom Himmel hoch from 2003. In 2003 he made his feature-length debut as a director with the television film Fehler not permitted , shot for arte . In 2008 he made his first movie Versailles about a young tramp who suddenly has to take care of a little boy. In Versailles , Guillaume Depardieu, who died in October 2008, played one of his last roles. Among other things, Schoeller received a César nomination for Versailles .

With his following feature film Der Aufsteiger Schoeller won the Prix ​​du Syndicat Français de la Critique in 2012 . The political drama received three awards at César 2012 for the best supporting actor Michel Blanc , the original script and the sound, and was nominated for eight other Césars, including for the film music. Schoeller won the FIPRESCI award for the best film in the series Un certain regard for Der Aufsteiger 2011 in Cannes . In 2012 he received a César in the category Best Original Screenplay for Der Aufsteiger .
