The Romy Schneider Prize ( Prix ​​Romy Schneider ) is the most important award for young actresses in the French film industry . The initiators were the journalists Marlène and Eugène Moineau . The prize is awarded every year in Paris, together with the Patrick Dewaere Prize ( known as the Jean Gabin Prize from 1981 to 2006 ), to a promising young female actress. The award is named after the actress Romy Schneider (1938–1982) and was first awarded in 1984. The winner will be determined by a jury made up of male film and theater journalists.

Prize winners

In 1994, Sandra Speichert was the only German actress to date and the first non-French woman to join the list of winners. The youngest winner at seventeen is Vanessa Paradis (1990), the oldest winner at 40 is Marie-Josée Croze (2010).

At the award ceremony in early May 2016, 15 journalists were on the jury. It gained Lou de Laâge against fellow nominee Zita Hanrot and Christa Théret .
