Ralph Thiekötter

Ralph Thiekötter (born February 6, 1957 in Hamburg ) is a German sound engineer , speaker , musician and music producer .

Career

Ralph Thiekötter learned to play the organ, piano, keyboard and guitar from the age of four. At the age of 17 he completed a two-year internship at Studio Funk GmbH & Co. KG, a production house for audiovisuals in Hamburg, where he was trained as a sound assistant, among other things. As part of his training, he became the personal assistant of Heinz Funk , the founder of the studio, and accompanied many of his music recordings and mixes.

From 1978 he took over many of the sound mixes for TV and radio advertising in the studio. To do this, he recorded a number of German dubbed versions of international films and mixed the versions for TV and cinema reports. In addition, Ralph Thiekötter worked as a composer and music producer and realized various pieces of music for feature films and commercials.

In the mid-1990s, Ralph Thiekötter specialized in the mixing of multi-channel advertising films in the cinema and worked successfully with the Dolby company to create a suitable sound standard for the loudness of advertising in the cinema.

After Studio Funk had set up his own mixed cinema in Hamburg in the early 2000s, Ralph Thiekötter mainly worked as a sound mixer for national and international cinema and TV productions.

Since 2000 he has also been active in an advisory capacity as chief sound engineer for the entire Studio Funk GmbH & Co. KG.

In addition, since 2005 he has been a lecturer at the Hamburg Media School, where he is responsible for “sound processing and mixing for cinema and TV productions”. Since 2015 he has also been on the advisory board of the Hamburg Media School.
