Johann Friedrich Dietrich (born August 29, 1753 in Görlitz ; † March 9, 1833 ) was a royal Saxon commissioner, bailiff and author.

Life

Dietrich was born in the Upper Lusatian town of Görlitz as the son of the councilor Johann Gottfried Dietrich. He attended high school in Görlitz under the rectorate of Baumeister and then studied law at the University of Leipzig . After completing his studies, he first became a private tutor in Bautzen for President von Gersdorff. His administrative career began in 1776 when he became a lawyer. In 1780 he took on the role of accessist at the court martial in the Saxon capital of Dresden. In 1783 he became an actuary in the office of Hoyerswerda . Just one year later, he was appointed bailiff in the service of the Saxon Elector Friedrich August von Sachsen in Grünhain, Schlettau and Stollberg / Erzgeb. In 1790 he moved to Großenhain as a bailiff . At that time Moritzburg was attached to this office. One of his first official duties was the creation of a new register of inheritance for the Kleinkmehlen manor . He also worked for various commissions on behalf of the Saxon Elector and, from 1806, the Saxon King as a commissioner.

When Moritzburg became an independent administrative unit in 1821, he took over the role of judicial officer there at his own request. In 1827 the Saxon king retired and granted him a pension.

In his spare time, Johann Friedrich Dietrich occasionally worked as a writer and author, from whom poems such as The Invalid come from. He also dealt with archeology. For example, Johann Friedrich Dietrich delivered an urn with a corpse burn from Querse, which belonged to the Bronze Age burial ground of Königswartha , during his service .

His son was Ewald Christian Viktor Dietrich.
