action

The film is about a cleaning man named Ranjid. His cow Benytha has to go to the vet because she has constant gas. The vet claims that she needs a stomach reduction, but it costs a lot of money. However, Ranjid does not have this. At the same time, the Dutchman van Dyk and his team shut down all important secret services around the world in order to gain world domination. The boss of the only remaining Ayran Secret Service (ASS), which is commissioned by Angela Merkel, is at a loss as to which agents he can use against van Dyk. Due to Ranjid's small mishaps, all ASS employees are switched off, which is why Ranjid is hired as the new super agent and would get the money for Benytha's operation. He is supposed to thwart van Dyk's plan. He is partially supported by his daring agent partner Hakan.

Reviews

On IMDb the users gave the film an average of only 3.2 out of 10 possible points, on Moviepilot the film scores even worse with 2.7 out of 10 points.

"The figure of the clumsy Indian Ranjid, created by the television comedian Kaya Yanar, stumbles through a flimsy number revue of gags, which as a pale, infantile parody of the agent film genre never convinces."

“As you can already guess from the various role names, the level of this parody of agents by successful producer Christian Becker ('Wickie und die stark Männer') is usually just above sea level, but sometimes also below - and thus often serves the audience who are above can amuse the humor of Tom Gerhardt (who also plays a supporting role). If jokes below the belt don't make you laugh that much, you will at least enjoy the quirky and likeable characters played by Kaya Yanar. Both the self-overestimating Hakan and the humble Ranjid make sure that you leave the cinema with a smile. Conclusion: Fast-paced with likeable characters - you have to like the humor. "

“The obvious references fizzle out just like most other ideas, all too often they are not included in a sparkling gag. (…) Agent Ranjid, directed by Michael Karen, is only very rarely really funny, and Blade Runner star and Holland's Hollywood export No. 1 Rutger Hauer in a supporting role cannot change anything. "

“Kaya Yanar [...] doesn't manage to squeeze a laugh out of the ribs of the audience in a single second. One embarrassing gag follows the next, one uninspired staged and played scene follows the other. One wonders whether Rutger Hauer [...] really needs the money so badly to get involved in such nonsense. "

Gross profit

The film grossed a total of around 3 million euros in Austria and Germany.
