action

Safari is the name of a dating app . If you fancy a one-night stand , you can use them. This is how the paths of different city dwellers cross. For example, the married pilot Harry ends up in bed with the YouTube star and influencer Lara, who presents herself on the Internet as a woman who is saving her first time for the right person. Harry's wife Aurelie, a psychotherapist, has no inkling of the affair. She gives advice to her client, shy David, on how to lose his virginity. The 50-year-old Mona is a long-term single and longs for a partner, she finally helps David his first time. Later she meets the single parent Life via the Safari app, but who is overwhelmed with her wishes.

The die-hard vegetarian Fanny wants a family of her own and meets the charming and good-looking Arif. When she tells him about her desire to have children, however, he tries to leave, and so she ends up with the pilot Harry about the next match, who invites Fanny to his home. There, however, it is not Harry who opens the door for her, but his wife Aurelie, who has since caught up with him. Aurelie confronts Fanny. In this situation, Aurelie's client David turns up to speak to her.

reception

Simon Rayß found in the Süddeutsche Zeitung that the “round dance made up of modern foreign musicians” was definitely a charming idea. However, the film's humor is rather old-fashioned and therefore recycled, "as if it had been borrowed from 20-year-old sex clothes." The cast was impressive. Really funny moments are only granted to them in the credits, when the most beautiful failed scenes are shown. Suddenly the film had a charm that had previously been sorely missed.

Heidi Reutter said in the Heilbronn voice, on the other hand, that director Rudi Gaul observed the strange behavior of sexually mature city dwellers in the online age in a very entertaining way. Ultimately, this film is about the longing to be someone you are not. At the same time, the focus is on the desire to be loved for who you are. In this respect, Safari is less of a humorous, light summer film for the Tinder generation than more of a social study that stimulates thought.

Sidney Schering called the film a "quick Romcom emergency fix for in between" on Oddsmeter.de and judged that the film was too poor in new ideas and too rich in idle time to pass as a dream date. However, there are enough smirkers not to see it as a complete mistake.
