The Society for New Music e. V. (GNM) is the German section of the International Society for New Music (IGNM / ISCM). The purpose of the association is to promote new music .

The organization was founded in 1922, banned by the National Socialists in 1933 and re-established in 1948. The statutory purpose of the association is “the promotion of new music, taking into account its individual and social function, its further development and the mediation between theory and practice.” She is the editor of various publications on new music and is committed to musicians, ensembles and events in this area. Together with the regional companies, it organizes the World Music Days for New Music in Germany. Association notifications appear in the magazines MusikTexte , Neue Musikzeitung and the World New Music Magazine . From 1947 to 1950 the society was the publisher of the publication Voices: monthly sheets for music .
