Erhard Karkoschka

Erhard Karkoschka (born March 6, 1923 in Ostrava ; † June 26, 2009 in Stuttgart-Heumaden ) was a German composer.

Live and act

Erhard Karkoschka studied composition, conducting and musicology at the Stuttgart University of Music and the University of Tübingen . From 1948 he taught at the State University for Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart. There he founded the Ensemble Neue Musik in 1962 (since 1976 the Contac Ensemble ). From 1973 until his retirement in 1987 he headed the studio for electronic music . After his retirement he held courses and lectures in South Africa, China and Korea, among others.

From 1964 to 1972 he was a board member of the Institute for New Music and Music Education Darmstadt eV and then President of the Society for New Music eV

Karkoschka composed orchestral works, chamber music , organ works, works for electronic instruments, cantatas , motets , psalms and chants.
