Adriana Hölszky

Adriana Hölszky (born June 30, 1953 in Bucharest , Romania ) is a composer and pianist of Hungarian-German origin.

Life

Between 1959 and 1969 Adriana Hölszky received piano lessons from Olga Roşca-Berdan at the Musiklyzeum in Bucharest. In 1972 she began studying composition with Ștefan Niculescu with a focus on piano at the "Ciprian Porumbeseu" Music Academy in Bucharest. In 1976 she moved to Germany with her family. Here she continued her studies: between 1977 and 1980 she studied composition at the Musikhochschule Stuttgart with Milko Kelemen , as well as piano - chamber music with Günter Louegk . At the same time she gave concerts as the pianist of the Lipatti Trio founded by Antonio Janigro together with her twin sister Monika Hölszky-Wiedemann and the cellist Hertha Rosa-Herseni.

In 1977 and 1978 she took part in the International Summer Academy Mozarteum Salzburg , and between 1978 and 1984 she regularly took part in the Darmstadt Summer Courses for New Music . In 1980 she received a teaching position and from 1993 to 1996 a lecturer at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart , in 1983 a scholarship from the Baden-Württemberg Art Foundation . In 1986 she first took part in the composers' forum of the Darmstadt Summer Course for New Music. In 1987 she received a scholarship from the Lower Saxony Ministry of Culture. In 1992 she took part in composition seminars in Tokyo and Kyoto as well as at IRCAM (Paris). The increasing international fame was reflected in three portrait concerts in Athens , Thessaloniki and Boston in 1993. In 1996 Adriana Hölszky was a lecturer in composition at the “Time of Music” festival in Viitasaari (Finland). Between 1997 and 2000 Adriana Hölszky was professor of composition at the Rostock University of Music and Theater , and from 2000 to 2013 she was a full professor of composition at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. Since 2002 she has been a member of the Academy of Arts in Berlin and since 2003 a member of the Fine Arts in Munich.
