The Furore Verlag is a 1986 Kassel by the Business Administration Renate Matthei established music publishing. He publishes sheet music by women composers as well as books on the subject of women in music, art and cultural history, and sells CDs with music recordings through the Salto Records International label . The current catalog contains more than 1,100 works by around 160 music-making women from Europe, America, Asia and Australia. The period in which this music was created extends from the 16th century to the present day.

The music publisher has received the German Music Edition Award "Best Edition" five times for selected sheet music editions :

  • 2015 for the two-volume edition "Open your mouth instead of closing your mouth!" With songs from the international women's movement ,
  • 2010 for the edition "Selected Songs" by Josephine Caroline Lang ,
  • 2006 for the edition "25 plus piano solo", a festive anniversary edition,
  • 2002 for the facsimile edition “The Year” by Fanny Hensel , b. Mendelssohn and
  • 1996 for the edition "Ton -zeichen" by the Darmstadt composer Barbara Heller .

As the first music publisher in the world, the publisher has dedicated itself exclusively to the publication of works by women composers since 1986. In particular, he publishes the extensive work of Fanny Hensel, Felix Mendelssohn's sister, including the edition of the piano cycle Das Jahr . In addition to a performing score that was first published in 1989, the facsimile of this work, which only came to the public in 1997, has been in the publisher's program since 2000.

The publisher achieves around half of its annual sales abroad, mainly in the USA, Switzerland and France.
