Moritz Herzig (born May 21, 1992 ) is a German grass skier . So far, he has been among the fastest 20 in three World Cup races , and in the 2009 and 2011 seasons he reached third place overall in the German Cup .

Career

Moritz Herzig has been taking part in international grass ski races since 2007. In the first two years he mostly competed in FIS races and achieved his first top 10 result on June 1, 2008 with ninth place in the giant slalom in Altenseelbach . Since 2007 he has also participated in the Junior World Championships . In these competitions he has so far mostly achieved placements in the top 20, with his best results being three eleventh places in the super combinations of Welschnofen 2007 and Dizin 2010 as well as in the Super G of Goldingen 2011 . In the World Cup , Herzig started for the first time on August 11, 2007 in the giant slalom in Čenkovice , in which he was 35th of the first round but could not qualify for the final run of the best 30. The next World Cup starts did not follow until the 2009 season . On June 6th, 2009 he won his first World Cup point as 30th in the Super Combined in Wilhelmsburg, and two months later he scored 25th place in the Super-G in Marbachegg , making him 60th in the overall World Cup. In the 2010 season , Herzig took part in four World Cup races and again scored twice. His best World Cup result so far was achieved on July 10, 2010 with 13th place in the Giant Slalom in Goldingen . He finished the giant slalom in Dizin in 20th position and improved to 41st place in the overall World Cup.

In the 2011 season , Herzig only took part in one World Cup race. He finished this super combination on July 2nd in Olešnice v Orlických horách in 26th position. In the same year he started for the first time at a world championship in the general class. He was 25th in giant slalom and 33rd in super-G. In the Junior World Championship , which was also held at the same time , he finished 11th in the Super-G and 15th in the giant slalom. Herzig contested three World Cup races in the 2012 season , with an 18th place in the giant slalom in Marbachegg being his best result. In addition, he was among the top ten in a FiS race for the first time since 2008, making him 41st in the overall World Cup, just like two years earlier. At the Junior World Championships 2012 in Burbach , Herzig finished tenth in the Super-G as well as eleventh in the giant slalom and in the super combined. Only in the slalom did he not finish.

In Germany Cup Moritz Herzig can be found since the 2008 season in the top ten in the overall standings. In 2009 and 2011 he achieved his best overall results with third place. In the youth class he came second overall in 2009, 2010 and 2011.
