Renate Matthei (* 1954 in Kassel ) is a German publisher.

Career

In 1986 Matthei founded Furore Verlag in Kassel , the only music publisher in the world that is exclusively dedicated to the publication of sheet music and books by and about female composers and sells CDs with recordings of their works. The current catalog includes over 1,000 works by around 150 music-making women from Europe, America, Asia and Australia. The period in which this music was created extends from the 16th century to the present day. In 2016 the publisher, which has already received the German Music Edition Award "Best Edition" five times for selected sheet music editions, celebrated its 30th anniversary.

From 1992 to 2013 Renate Matthei was a member of the board of the international woman and music working group (chairwoman of the board from 2009 to 2013), whose archive includes around 20,000 media units. In 1990 she was co-founder of the Kassel Culture Forum and has been a member of the association's board since then. She is the initiator and organizer of the Kassel Kultursalon and co-founder of the Kassel Book Autumn and the artisan association for the promotion of art and culture in Rothenditmold and North Holland eV and a member of the Society of Friends of the Kassel Music Academy eV

She is a founding partner of Euregio-Verlag , since 2005 managing director of Merseburger Verlag and since 2007 managing director of Pan Verlag Basel / Kassel.
