Ulrich Stranz
Ulrich Stranz (born May 10, 1946 in Neumarkt-Sankt Veit , Upper Bavaria , † April 27, 2004 in Zurich ) was a German composer who spent the second half of his life in Zurich.
life and work
Ulrich Stranz grew up in Munich, where he later studied composition with Fritz Büchtger and Günter Bialas . After two DAAD years at the electronic studio in Utrecht , he settled in Zurich in 1974, at the age of 28, and worked there as a teacher and composer. His works have been published by Bärenreiter Verlag, CDs by wergo and telos. Stranz died shortly before his 58th birthday of serious cancer. He found his final resting place in the Fluntern cemetery in Zurich .
His work includes orchestral, ensemble and chamber music . His four string quartets were best known .
