Manfred Trojahn

Manfred Trojahn (born October 22, 1949 in Cremlingen , Lower Saxony) is a German composer , conductor and essayist .

Life

Manfred Trojahn studied orchestral music from 1966 at the Lower Saxony Music School in Braunschweig . After graduating in 1970, he continued his studies at the Hamburg University of Music , initially studying flute with Karlheinz Zöller . In 1971 he became a composition student of Diether de la Motte , he also attended seminars with György Ligeti and studied conducting with Albert Bittner .

Since 1991 he has been teaching composition at the Robert Schumann University in Düsseldorf . From 2004 to 2006 he was President of the German Composers' Association , from 2008 to 2012 he was Deputy Director of the Music Section at the Academy of the Arts (Berlin) .

Manfred Trojahn is married to the stage and costume designer Dietlind Konold . He lives in Düsseldorf and Paris.
